DLW Linoleum ‘Made in Germany’
Manufacturing of DLW Linoleum
Today products with the Made in Germany label are in high demand globally. Consumers all over the world associate quality,
hard work and an innovative spirit with German companies. High-quality products and services, excellent service and prompt
implementation are strengths that are highly valued internationally.
Armstrong is Germany’s only manufacturer of high-quality linoleum, which is produced under the tradition-rich DLW brand. 127
years ago, the first linoleum plant was established in the northern German town of Delmenhorst. Since then, linoleum flooring
has been made there at the highest technical level. Armstrong has also retained parts of its administration, sales and marketing
as well as technical and customer service in Germany. Committed to tradition and quality, Armstrong will continue to rely
on the Made in Germany label well into the future.
Selecting a manufacturer that operates in the middle of Europe can drastically reduce environmental impacts by shortening
transportation distances. Due to its natural composition of organic and mineral raw materials, linoleum is inherently a model
ecological product.
Origin of the Made in Germany label
The origin of the Made in Germany label, which over time became synonymous with quality, can be traced to the end of the 19th
century. At that time, Great Britain introduced a labeling requirement for imported products in order to protect itself from
supposed lesser quality imitations. Since the quality of German products was good, often even better than the local ones,
the designation later developed into a kind of quality seal.
